Director of the Pastoral Institute of Religious Studies at the Catholic University of Lyon. A missionary in Chad, Ivory Coast and Algeria, he has taught at the Pontifical Gregorian University (Rome) and the Catholic University of West Africa (Abidjan). He was co-director of MISNA (Missionary International Service News Agency) and director of Caritas Algeria. His latest book is L’Église c’est nous.
